Old acquaintances, made in the two other stories, reappear: Tars Tarkas, Tardos Mors and others. There is a happy ending to the story in the union of the Warlord, the title conferred upon John Carter, with Dejah Thoris.

This is the 3rd book in the Barsoom series. Like its predecessors, it is a swashbuckling melodramatic tale of a larger-than-life hero and his high-handed adventures on Mars. Lots of sword-fighting, chivalry, and mighty foes.

Despite being nearly a hundred years old and being full of writing techniques from early in the last century, it is an entertaining story with page-turning action. Too bad it is full of silly dialogue and droning descriptions. Nevertheless, worth the time to read.
