I adore this book. I've had it since I was a little kid, and I still reread it from time to time, and my family and I frequently quote it to each other.

Don't read it without the illustrations, though.
Aimless fairy tale about a boy who goes off to rescue a dragon held captive on a wild island. It surprises me it was a Newbery winner.
This book was recommended by my son's grandma. I read it to him and the sequels. It has become one my favorites and his, as well. Terrific book!
OH My!! I read this book and its successors when I was a kid. So did my dad. Ruth Stiles Garnett is one of the best children's book writers EVER!!
